BSAC Blue Wave Swim Team Competes at AAU Jr. Olympics

Swimmers on the BSAC Blue Wave team recently traveled to Greensboro, NC to compete in the AAU Jr. Olympics. It is a multisport event with thousands of participants from across the United States. The Amateur Athletic Union was established in 1888 with the philosophy of “Sports for All, Forever”.

The AAU Jr. Olympics took place over five days at the end of July. Blue Wave Coach, Rich Rogers, especially likes this event because it helps swimmers get out of their comfort zone and come together as a team. At most meets, swimmers

The BSAC After-School Experience (BASE), is bringing back its most popular after-school clubs in addition to exciting new options! After a long day, students can look forward to spending time with their friends while developing personal interests and hobbies in Culinary, Arts & Crafts, Robotics, LEGO’S (intro to Robotics), Community Service, Gardening, Odyssey of the Mind, and Trade. Students have the opportunity to register for two clubs in the fall, and two clubs in spring.

BSAC’s 11th Annual Casino Night Raises Over $63,000 for Scholarships

Over 450 local business leaders and community members attended BSAC’s Annual Casino Night on Friday, March 29th, and boy, what a night it was! BSAC was able to raise over $63,000 in scholarship support for families in need of financial assistance. These children will now be able to participate in programs including swim lessons, summer camp, after-school, TRIDENT (special needs programming) and many of our other great programs.

Meet Rebekah Clark: a talented BSAC lifeguard, Girl Scout, and Blue Wave Swim Team Member who has made a lasting impact right here on our campus. With the help of her family, Rebekah created a mini library called Readbox, inspired by the Redbox video rentals located in popular stores in our area.

BSAC’s Senior Director of Sports Programming, Theresa Hickie, has been awarded Public Citizen of the Year by the National Association of Social Workers (NAHW). This award annually recognizes someone that is not a social worker but carries out the philosophy NAHW believes in.

In its ongoing mission to impact more and more children and families throughout the Tampa Bay area, BSAC has proudly partnered with the Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce (GBCC) to raise funds for our own programs through Brandon’s signature event – The Taste of Brandon.
