Meet the BSAC After-School
Experience Team at Fishhawk!
Brandi studied Elementary Education at the University of South Florida and earned Directors Credentials through the Department of Children and Families. She has participated in the education of young minds for the past 15 years including teaching VPK at BSAC.
Brandi has been involved in the community as a Board Member, youth soccer coach, and team parent. She has three children with her husband of 17 years and enjoys watching her family participate in extra-curricular activities.
“BSAC’s B.A.S.E. program provides an opportunity for your child to have different experiences in activities such as Culinary, Robotics, Sports, Community Service, Art, and Dance all while connecting them with the community around them and learning valuable life skills such as leadership, cooperation, and problem-solving. Our goal is to impact their lives and to teach them how they can impact others.” -Brandi
For the past eight years, Kara has been working with children. For the past three years, she has been at Fishhawk and loves watching each of the children grow. Her favorite way to keep the students motivated is with the BASE star student of the week program. She explained that each child is motivated in a different way so positive behavior should never go unnoticed. Which is why the BASE star student of the week program is so beneficial. Her future plans include finishing her degree in special education at USF and to continue working at BSAC for a long time.
William began at BSAC as a counselor at Fishhawk then quickly moved his way up to the Assistant Site Director position. During these past few years that William has worked with children, he explains that it has opened so many new doors in his life because he enjoys it so much. In the future, William has plans to continue taking care of others by finishing his nursing degree and becoming a pediatric nurse. When he is not at work or working on his degree, William spends time learning about his new hobby; hydroponic fish tanks.
When he was much younger, Marshall began babysitting then he decided to continue working with children by becoming a counselor at Fishhawk. His favorite activity to do with the children is to play any type of sport. He also enjoys learning new recreational games that he can play with the children. Throughout his time at BSAC, Marshall has been lucky enough to develop great leadership skills. This impelled him to decide to become a business major at college. Marshalls future plans include finishing his degree in business at FGCU.
After babysitting her niece and nephew a few times, Rachel decided being a counselor at BSAC was the perfect job for her. Each friday she brings a treat to the children to keep encouraging them to be on their best behavior. Her favorite activity to do with the children includes any activity that is outside because the children are always so excited. She explains that she has just as much fun being around the children as they do playing all of the fun games. In the future, Rachel plans to finish her business management degree and work her way up through the levels of a business.
After his sister and close friend raved to him about their jobs at BSAC, Randahl decided to become a counselor. His love for children began years ago since his family has always had small children. He explains that his favorite part about his job is how high-energy every day is and how family-oriented it feels. Although he has not been at BSAC long, he says that he becomes better at his job and learns something each day. He stays motivated by reminding himself that he wants to do well in his future and keeping a self-motivated mindset.
Each day at BSAC working with the children is always fun for Samuel. He enjoys playing outside and learning new games from the children. His favorite piece of advice to give the children is to follow their dreams and to not let anything stand in their way. When he is not at work, Samuel spends most of his time shooting photos and videos. He is studying to become a filmmaker because of his love for movies and cinema. He continues to stay motivated by different artists’ successes as well as his father.
As a runner at Fishhawk, Brooke loves interacting and creating bonds with each of the children. Her favorite activity to do with the children is to play foursquare on the playground. Each day at BSAC is an adventure for Brooke. When she’s not working, Brooke can be found playing either lacrosse or golf at her high school.
After having a fantastic time working at summer camp, Jacob decided to continue at BSAC as a runner at Fishhawk. Before working for BSAC, Jacob realized his passion for working with children after babysitting his younger cousin. He makes sure to constantly reassure the children and
