Blue Wave enjoys a storied past. Founded in 1963, Blue Wave is one of the oldest and longest running competitive aquatic programs in the state. Blue Wave swimmers have been successful in the local, state, regional, national and international arenas.

Blue Wave swimmers have participated in six Olympic Games;

Barcelona – 1992
Atlanta – 1996
Sydney – 2000
Athens – 2004
Beijing – 2008
London – 2012

In its history, our team has had many state Junior Olympic champions and record holders, National Top 10 (16) swimmers, National Age Group record holders, High School All Americans, high school state champions, Junior and Senior National champions and finalists, and more notably USA Olympians. Among them triple Olympic Gold medalist Brooke Bennett, Olympic Silver medalist Maritza Correia and two-time El Salvadorian Olympian Golda Marcus are all proud Blue Wave alumni.

While we honor our past, we embrace the future to ensure that Blue Wave positively impacts the lives of our community members for many years to come.

Blue Wave is an organizationally-owned and coach-operated program that practices at the Brandon Sports and Aquatic Center in Brandon, FL (BSAC). Blue Wave also operates out of other Tampa Bay area facilities including ones in Fishhawk Ranch (Lithia), Camp Wai Lani (Palm Harbor), the Bobby Walker Memorial Pool (Clearwater High School) and The Highlander Pool (Dunedin). We strive to offer the best in aquatic instruction and training available anywhere at all of our facilities. Under the direction of our current Director of Competitive Aquatics, Rich Rogers, we look continue to reach new heights.

Coach Rogers joined the team in the fall of 2016. Rich brings his proven experience building national caliber teams here to Blue Wave. Program offerings, from top to bottom have been reshaped to ensure that every team members gets the best experience possible at all of our locations. The efforts are working. The team is experiencing a renaissance…it’s a great time to be a part of Blue Wave.

Blue Wave is experiencing a renaissance. But now, the scope of the organization includes more than just a swim team. With the addition of new facilities, and upgrades to our existing ones here at BSAC, we can offer even more competitive aquatic options to the members of our community. This expansion includes Synchronized Swimming, Adult Masters and other fun, non-traditional programs. All of our programs are designed to give each of our members the skills, attitudes and experience they need to meet or exceed their personal goals.

Swimming is not just and important life skill, it’s a healthy activity that is also a lot of fun! If your child has expressed an interest in swimming, consider Blue Wave. We make it easy to become a member of our team. Simply stop by during any of our regularly scheduled practice times for a quick, free and no obligation try out. Have your child bring a bathing suit and a towel as they will be getting in the pool. We can provide a pair of goggles, if needed. After watching your child in the water, a friendly staff member will guide you to the right program for his or her needs. Simple, fast and fun. We have a program for every child.
